Greetings to the Western Wolves
Well first off congratulation to Vladislav for creating the forum , quick too, well done to the Quartermaster and acting Lance Corporal of the Training Lance.
So to begin we have a a lot of things to do and so the following fighting oriented events will give us a timetable to follow. Try to avoid the term deadline because this is supposed to be fun and reality will often get in the way.
The Medieval Fair on April 1st will be a lot of fun for everybody to attend, and it would be great to see a Western Wolves presence with a simple pavilion and display of War equipment as part of the SCA display.
War Tabards and/or Crusader garb anyone?
The Tournament of the Lady is on the 6th of May and will be the first public 'outing' for the Western Wolves, in every sense of the word. The event will be a team melee tourney, with team of three fighting every round and mass melees in between. To participate (as a wolf) on the field you will need to be authorised in Society combat, be wearing the Unit Pot helm and if possible using a Unit shield.
For this event it is hoped that we can field the Command Lance, Griffin Lance and sufficient trainees will be authorised to field a 3rd Lance (as yet unnamed) this will give us 3 teams of Dog-soldiers for the tourney and a team of 9 for the mass melees ;D There will also be an archery range for Talons and pages to exercise their skills with the bow etc... if you are available to attend and help run things this will be very cool to and earn you camp follower points.
The Long Weekend in June is our next localised event, the Pencampwr gan Abertridwr (Canton Champion) event with camping, fighting, feasting and revelry at the Wandi Muster Grounds a strong showing from the Wolves would be grand and who know one of us may even take the title ?
Also in June (18th?) will be the visit of the King and Queen celebrated by a feast and the following day (Sunday) the opportunity to display various martial skills. This is a great chance to see the pretty dress side of the society with fine food, dancing and a Royal Court to dazzle us, the Sunday will see archery, rapier, games and rattan combat.
September Long Weekend is the Baronial Championship camping event and another chance to display martial prowess and honour your consort.
Easter 2007 will see the next Rowany Festival the largest annual gathering of the Kingdom, probably a 1000 people camping and doing medieval things with merchants, balls, singing, workshops, the tavern and of course the wars with 300 plus people on the field both rattan and missile troops. A strong turnout of Western Wolves to fight as a Unit and challenge the might of the Grogs, Vetbarre, Axemen, White Company and other organised units would be very very very cool ;D
Keep checking the Abertridwr and Anealan website calendars for more details and if you have any suggestions bring them up in this forum or at a Unit meeting.
